This speech was given on the occasion of the 220th anniversary of the University of Tartu Library. The author reflects on various aspects of the library – as a labyrinth, as a refuge, as a garden, as a school, as love…Visions of Jorge Luis Borges, Carlos Ruiz Zafón, Betti Alver, Andres Vanapa, and others alternate with the author’s own early experiences with libraries and librarians.
